Three golds in Poznan

Will Arnott continues his preparations for the Paralympic Games, winning gold at the Poznan Challenger.

The victory will not only serve as a confidence boost ahead of Paris but will also help to improve his world ranking which, in turn, will help Arnott’s seeding when he arrives at Paris Expo in August.

“It was great to win my second international gold medal in the individuals. And I want to thank Lauren Kianchehr for stepping in at short notice to my ramp operator. Hopefully, this results shows I’m on the right track for Paris and I’m now looking forward to competing in Povoa in a week’s time.”

Every competition between now and the Games is so important, not just in terms of preparation but it's also key for improving my world ranking going into the Games.”

The tournament in Poland also saw two gold medals for Great Britain in the Team and Pairs events.

In the BC3 Pairs, Talent Transition Squad member Matt Berry teamed up with Robyn McBride. The duo overcame Slovakia and Spain, both on tiebreak, in the pool matches before beatinmg Austria 3-2 in the semi-final and then, in a case of déjà vu, triumphing over Slovakia on another tiebreak in the final.

Louis Saunders paired up with Boccia UK’s Talent Transition Squad member Sophie Newnham in the BC4 Pairs. With just France and Great Britain entered into this category, there were just two matches. In Britain’s first match, the duo won 4-2 before securing a second win of 4-1.

Sophie Newnham also won silver in the BC4 women’s. She competed in a round robin format winning all but one of her matches.
