Safeguarding & Child Protection
Boccia UK has worked closely with the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) and NSPCC to develop a robust policy and procedures to safeguard Children and Young People
What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding is about creating and maintaining an environment where everyone can train, compete, and work safely, free from abuse, harm, neglect or discrimination.
Safeguarding applies to both children and adults and it promotes respect, dignity, inclusion, and wellbeing, ensuring that all members of the boccia community can thrive within a safe and positive environment.
At Boccia UK, we are committed to the highest standards of safeguarding and welfare. We work closely with key safeguarding partners, including the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU), NSPCC, and Ann Craft Trust, to ensure our policies, procedures, and practices reflect current best practice and provide effective protection for children, young people, and adults.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. Whether you are an athlete, coach, support staff member, official, volunteer, parent, or supporter, you play an important role in helping to create a safe and respectful culture.
If you experience, witness, or become aware of anything that concerns you, or that makes you feel uncomfortable, we encourage you to speak up. Concerns will be taken seriously and handled appropriately, sensitively, and confidentially.
In addition to responding to concerns, the Safeguarding Team is available to provide advice, guidance, and support on a wide range of safeguarding matters, helping individuals and teams reduce risk and address issues at the earliest opportunity.
Our Policies and Procedures
Our safeguarding policies and procedures outline how we protect the welfare of everyone involved in our sport and how concerns are managed and reported.
